The Original Tamron SP 15-30 mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Nikon was the world’s first full frame ultra-wide angle zoom lens with built-in vibration control, the new G2 version of the lens introduces up to 4.5 stop of stabilisation so you can capture handheld images at slower shutter speeds. Combined with an ultra-bright f/2.8 constant aperture and super versatile zoom range this makes the lens perfectly suited for low-light and event photography or video shooting.
15-30mm Ultra-Wide Focal Length
Created for full frame and APS-C cameras, the 15-30mm excels at capturing the scale of vast landscapes or cityscapes and is a super useful lens to have on-hand while shooting events or weddings because of its versatile 15-30mm zoom range. The wide angle is perfectly suited for taking large indoor group shots and the stabilisation and bright aperture ensure the lens performs well even when light is in short supply.
Bright f/2.8 Constant Aperture
Along with a focal range that makes it all but guaranteed to be one of your new favourites, the lens also boasts an impressive ultra-bright maximum aperture of f/2.8, which builds on its already astounding versatility to solidify its position as an absolute go-to piece of glass.
Round Diaphragm with Nine Blades
The f/2.8 aperture is constant throughout the entire zoom range and creates a beautiful out-of-focus bokeh using a rounded nine-bladed diaphragm to create pleasing bokeh when shallow depth of field is in use to take your images to the next level.
4.5 Stops Vibration Compensation
What makes this lens truly unique though, is the built-in image stabilisation that is the first of its kind for a lens of this class. 4.5 stops of vibration control help to reduce bump and shakes when shooting video and holds your composition steady when shooting images with a slower shutter speed.
USD Motor for Autofocus
With an ultrasonic silent drive (USD) that moves the optical elements quickly and quietly, you can be confident that you can acquire focus on your subject quickly and accurately. With a fulltime manual focus override it is possible to make precise focus adjustments to your composition when shooting on-the-go, even when the lens is set in autofocus mode.
Dual Micro-Processing Units
Two Micro-Processing Units (MPU) are utilised to control autofocus as well as vibration compensation. This ensures high-speed focusing and improved stabilisation even when shooting handheld in low light.
Moisture Resistant With Fluorine Coating
The lens has a moisture resistant build that ensures it can be used with confidence regardless of the weather conditions. A fluorine coating on the front element keeps oil and moisture from adhering to the front element and can be cleaned easily.
Aspherical and Low Dispersion Elements
Image quality and optical performance is what photographers really care about and the Tamron SP 15-30mm does not disappoint with 18 elements arranged in 13 groups. It uses 3 low dispersion (LD) elements to significantly reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing as well as an eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical (XGM) element that compensates for barrel distortion.
eBAND, BBAR and AX Lens Coatings
On the front element of the lens a new Anti-Reflection eXpand (AX) coating ensures ghosting is minimised along with flaring to deliver images with excellent clarity and contrast. The lens also features Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency (eBAND) and Broad-Band Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coatings to maintain optical performance in a range of different lighting conditions.
Minimum Focal Distance of 28cm
A minimum focusing distance of 28cm allows you to compose your shot close-up, this allows you to create more exaggerated depth-of-field effects to capture more creative images and video.
Filter Holder at Rear of lens
The Canon version of the 15-30 f/2.8 lens Nikon includes with an integrated rear filter holder which is designed to accommodate drop-in filters to save you having to carry around heavy filter holder kits.
Compatible with the Tamron TAP-in Console
The Tamron 15-30mm SP G2 Lens Nikon supports fine-tuning of autofocus performance as well as vibration compensation options with the optional Tamron TAP-in Console. This can also be used to update lens firmware to make sure you’re getting the best performance possible out of the lens.
