High Speed Everyday & Low Light Lens

This high-speed lens has a maximum aperture of f2.8 over the whole zoom range from 17mm up to 70mm, making it the perfect all-round lens that will perform wonderfully in low light. The zoom range is a full-frame equivalent of 25.5-105mm.

Top Optical Performance

The optical performance of this lens is superb with 16 lens elements in 12 groups. The 2 Glass Molded Aspherical (GM) Lens Elements and 1 Hybrid Aspherical Lens Element are arranged precisely for high image quality from edge to edge.

Extra Protection & Compatibility

This Tamron 17-70 Di IIIA has a flourine coating and moisture resistant construction for extra protection. With a filter diameter of 67mm, it can share the same thread as the Tamron Series of full-frame mirrorless compatibility for better compatibility.

VC & Features

On top of the f2.8 wide aperture the lens also uses Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Correction) mechanism for the best performance in lower light situations. On top of this, optimised and advanced algorithms have been used for the lens in a dedicated Micro-Processing Unit (MPU) that works independently for the best compensation for vibration. This feature works with cameras, whether they have in-body stabilisation or not. For video shooting, image stabilisation performance is greatly improved with the use of AI technology, for a noticeable performance improvement when compared to conventional models.

Built for Sony

The 17 to 70mm RXD Lens is compatible with many Sony features, that are built into it's APS-C mirrorless cameras, including features like Eye AF and Fast Hybrid AF. Upgraded Vibration Correction (VC) works with your Sony APS-C camera and leverages the AI for video shooting.

Focus Closely

Close-up focusing is possible with a minimum object distance of just 19cm at the widest zoom (17mm) of the lens. This is superior to many other conventional high-speed APS-C lenses available on the market, where a close focusing distance is often not supported. At the telephoto end of the zoom range (70mm) you can still shoot at a comparably close-range of just 39cm. This further concrete this lens as a great every-day shooter with a good close up focus performance for compelling close ups.

Portable & Compact

The super-portable and compact design brings the lens in at just 11.93cm long, with a 7.46cm diameter at the widest point. Weighing a minimal 0.525kg the Tamron 17-70mm 2.8 will be comfortable carrying the lens when shooting or in a camera bag. The compact size and low weight are remarkable considering the feature set, specifically the VC image stabilisation and 2.8 aperture. When paired with a Sony APSC Mirrorless Camera the lens will feel nicely balanced and comfortable in the hand.
