Wide-Angle Zoom Lens

The Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD Lens is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with a fast aperture, designed to suit the Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless range of cameras. With a fast 2.8 aperture across the full zoom range, you can easily capture photos and videos in varying light conditions. The equivalent (35mm) range of 16.5-30mm makes this lens perfect for everyday shooting, casual snaps, landscapes, and street photography.

Compact & Close Up

Even with the excellent fast 2.8 aperture, the lens is still very compact in nature at just 8.62cm high. It is perfectly balanced when attached to a compact APS-C mirrorless camera body, making it a great wide angle for everyday use. At its widest angle, the 11mm focal length, the lens offers wonderful close-up shooting, focusing at a Minimum Object Difference (MOD) of just 15cm. This is a magnification ratio of 1:4 with a unique perspective. This feature allows for a creative macro style that utilises the natural distortion with the ultra-wide angle. The wide 2.8 aperture will enhance your close-ups with beautiful and interesting bokeh in the background.

Lightweight

A weight of only 0.335kg will make this at home in any camera bag, providing you with more options at the wide-angle range. Paired with the Sony compact mirrorless system you can expect responsive image capture without the disadvantage of heavy and large gear. This lightweight combination makes for an experience still photography and video experience, either handheld or supported on a tripod of gimbal.

Protection from the Elements

This Tamron 11-20mm is protected for outdoor shooting, using Flourine Coating and a moisture-resistant construction. This gives you more options for creating content in adverse weather and dusty situations.

Wide Compatibility

This lens gives compatibility with many of the features in Sony’s Mirrorless Cameras. Features such as the Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF are fully useable with the lens. The lens has plenty of features for fast and easy shooting while making use of an impressive image quality and low light functionality.

Utlising a standard 67mm filter thread size, the 17-70mm lens has the same thread size as Tamron’s 17-70mm F2.8 fast standard zoom lens as well as nearly all lenses in Tamron’s full-frame mirrorless range. This allows for great compatibility with accessories such as filters and lens caps.

Optical Precision

With 12 lens elements, organised into 10 groups this lens offers excellent image performance. Two Glass Molded Aspherical (GM) lens elements make for a high image quality across the whole image from corner to corner. The further addition in the Tamron 11-20mm lens of an XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), and two LD (Low Dispersion) elements gives sharpness and clarity while reducing common optical aberrations.

The BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating reduces flare and image ghosting to minimal levels, giving you more details in the shot even when your subject is backlit. This combination of the latest in imaging technology gives the perfect harmony of natural and rich saturated colours and sharpness giving you the best from your camera.

A Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive (RXD) motor makes for extremely quiet Autofocus for uninterrupted close-up images and no-noise video shooting.
