Supercharged Performance
The Sony RX 10 IV brings the RX 10 series of cameras to the next level with supercharged performance. The BIONZ X image processor and stacked BSI image sensor are complemented by a front-end LSI, allowing the camera to capture 24 fps while tracking focus and exposure. It also features a 315 point autofocus system, shoots ultra-high resolution 4K video and includes Sony's popular flat Slog3 colour profile as well as improved slow-motion for greater creative freedom.
20.1 Megapixel BSI Image Sensor
Sony uses a stacked sensor design which incorporates a DRAM chip for much faster sensor readout speeds, this allows the camera to rapidly capture images and slow motion or high resolution video with ease. With a large 1-inch size the sensor also boasts a back-side-illuminated construction that means the camera captures as much light as possible.
25x Zoom Range with f/2.8-4 Aperture Range
A focal range of 24-600mm (35mm equivalent) allows you to capture wide-angle landscape shots as well as far-away subjects. The lens on the RX 10 Mk 4 has ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* optics that use a super ED glass element to compensate for chromatic aberrations at higher focal lengths, as well as advanced aspherical elements that produce incredible colour, contrast and sharpness results. It also has a focus range limiter so you can set a focus range while zoomed in for even-faster AF.
Front-End LSI for Ultra-Fast 24 FPS Continuous Capture
The enhanced power of Sony's Front-end LSI chip combined with the BIONZ X Image processor equip the RX MK4 with the ability to capture as many as 24 frames-per-second with AF/AE tracking with a massive 249 shots buffer capacity. Combined with the improved hybrid autofocus system this significant processing boost delivers faster and more accurate imaging performance.
315 High Density Points for Ultra-Fast Autofocus
The combination of both contrast and phase detection autofocus points ensures the RX 10 MKIV can deliver finely tuned AF performance. The hybrid system has 315 points and a focus response time as fast as 0.03-sec for lightning-fast results that, combined with the 65% frame coverage on the sensor accurately tracks subjects. The new AF-A mode improves AF for moving objects by automatically switching between the AF-S and AF-C modes depending on the type of movement tracked.
4K Video and Ultra-Slow-Motion Ability
The ability to capture high-resolution 4K video with full sensor readout in a 100Mbps XAV-S format is complemented by the cameras HFR (High Frame Rate) mode, which can shoot slow-motion Full HD video at 960fps (without recording sound) for incredible 40x slower footage. You even have the choice to choose whether to shoot higher quality slow-motion for up to 4 seconds or longer videos for up to 7 seconds by selecting the shoot time or quality priority mode.
Improved Focus Peaking, Colour Profiles and Proxy Data Recording
Videographers will love the new focus peaking that uses a higher resolution baseband image than previous models to show the in-focus areas of your shot with better accuracy. The video capabilities of the camera now include Sony's Slog2 and Slog3 flat profiles that record a significantly wider dynamic range, as well as an all-new proxy recording option that creates a low-bitrate file for faster 4K editing that can be swapped for the high-res 4K file before final export.
Steady Shot Stabilisation
Sony's impressive Optical Steady Shot system delivers improved image detail and steadier video footage by compensating for camera shake, especially useful when shooting hand held or at telephoto focal lengths. The Optical system can be combined with an electronic image stabilisation for more stable video results.
High Resolution Touch Tilt LCD and EVF
The Touch Focus function to choose the focus of your shot is easy and intuitive and you can use the Touch Pad AF function to move your focus point while you're using the bright XGA 2360K-dot OLED viewfinder at the same time. The LCD screen has also been upgraded to a 1440K-dot resolution that makes it easier to review your shots and video and tilts up 109° and down 41° to allow you to explore creative perspectives.
Weather-Resistant Body with Customisable Control Layout
Shoot in the great outdoors with confidence because the camera has a dust and moisture resistant body design that offers protection from adverse weather conditions. The focus hold button on the side of the lens can be customised to activate Eye AF as well a range of other functions. The other custom buttons can be assigned to 58 different functions for personalised operation.
Bluetooth, NFC and Wi-Fi Connectivity
With built in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC Connectivity, the Cybershot DSC-RX 10 Mark IV makes it incredibly easy to share your images and video. The Bluetooth connection can sync with the GPS on a smart device to embed location data in your images and the Wi-Fi can be used to transfer files or remotely control the camera for hands-free triggering.
