The sophisticated design uses a large XA (extreme aspherical) optical element as well as dual XD (extreme dynamic) focus motors to ensure it meets the high standards of professionals.

11-Bladed f/4 Aperture

The FE 600mm has a large aperture with an impressive f/4 performance that creates a brighter image, allowing the super-fast shutter speeds required to freeze fast motion. This is not only useful for sports and nature photographers shooting quick moving subjects but also for situations where a shallow creamy bokeh, created with the super telephoto focal length and soft circular aperture can be used to isolate a subject and intensify the power of a composition.

Refined Optics and Lens Coatings

The optical design of the 600mm is a work of art, with 24 individual elements carefully arranged in 18 groups for optimised image quality. The lens uses a large XA (extreme aspherical) element as well as three fluorite elements and two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements to control chromatic aberrations and deliver the highest resolution possible. Sony have also used their Nano AR and fluorine coatings to reduce flare and ghosting and increase contrast.

Double XD Motors for Fast Precise Autofocus

By using dual XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors that work in unison, the 600mm f/4 lens delivers lightning fast, pin-point accurate autofocus performance. Optical SteadyShot for Sharper Shots

The 600mm has an optical SteadyShot system with three different modes and 5-axis stabilisation when used with compatible cameras.
