Among these are reduced focus breathing and minimal axial shift when zooming during video capture. This lens also boasts centralised weight distribution at varying focal lengths, eliminating the need to re-balance your gimbal when changing focal lengths.

Extreme Close-Up Performance

Regarding close-up photography, the lens features an exceptional optical design and the latest floating focus mechanism. This allows for a minimum focusing distance of 22 centimetres and a magnification factor of 0.32x, rendering images with exquisitely smooth bokeh.

AF Driven By XD Linear Motors

The lens is also engineered with XD Linear Motors, which provides precise and smooth autofocus, especially for slow-motion video capture in 4K and 8K resolutions. Notably, the autofocus speed is twice as fast as its predecessor's.

Professional Reliability

The FE 16-35mm F/2.8 GM II offers enhanced reliability for photographers and videographers who must contend with challenging environmental conditions. It has been constructed for better resistance to both dust and moisture compared to its previous version. All seams are structurally sealed, buttons and switches have silicone rubber gaskets, and a rubber ring secures the lens mount. The front lens element is coated with a fluorine compound that repels water, oil, and other contaminants.

In a final nod to its exceptional design, the FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II measures 11.15cm in length and weighs only 0.133kg less than its predecessor, affirming its position as the smallest and lightest full-frame 16-35mm F2.8 zoom lens available.
