Premium G-Lens Series Optical Construction

A highly intricate optical construction comprising of 18 elements in 15 groups delivers high resolution and outstanding image quality. Six aspherical elements and three Extra-Low Dispersion glass elements effectively suppress spherical and chromatic aberration for superior clarity and colour fidelity throughout the entire zoom range of the lens.

Ideal for 4K Video

The resolving power of the lens is well suited for professional 4K movie production, and for still photography, the lenses is consistently sharp and able to capture an incredible amount of image detail.

Constant Aperture Zoom

With a constant f/4 maximum aperture, the lens can maintain a consistent exposure when zooming in or out giving you greater flexibility when shooting. The lens offers a 27mm wide angle view to a 165mm telephoto (35mm equivalent) when coupled with a camera with a APS-C size sensor and allows you to easily transition from wide angle to close-up shots.

Sony Smooth Motion Optics

The 18-110mm incorporates Sony’s Smooth Motion Optics (SMO) technology to control focus and axial shifts while zooming by using a constant length construction in combination with precision focus tracking adjustment technology. Lens breathing is significantly reduced with an internal focus mechanism which allows cinematic focus pulls without distracting changes in composition, instantly adding value to any production.

OSS Image Stabilisation

Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation can dramatically reduce the blur caused by camera movement delivering smoother video footage by reducing bumps and shakes. Complementing Sony’s models that have in-body sensor stabilisation, the SteadyShot system improves the quality of still images during handheld shooting in low-light conditions by allowing slower shutter speeds for sharp low-light results.

Triple Control Rings

The lens boasts separate and easy to grip textured function control rings for focus, iris, and zoom that provide an advanced level of control for operators.

Zoom:
The manual zoom ring direction can be switched as required making it easy to use no matter what zoom direction your familiar with.

Focus:
The push/pull design of the focus ring provides seamless switching between AF and MF modes and sports a distance scale to aid with manual focus, while a 0.8mm pitch focus gear is provided for compatibility with follow focus rigs.

Iris:
The iris ring can be switched between clickable aperture stops for still photography, or can be de-clicked for smooth and silent operations while shooting video.

Power Zoom Control

In addition to the mechanical manual zoom, the lens has an inbuilt servo power zoom function that ensures smooth controlled slow powered zooms for subtle composition adjustments and framing changes. Using a SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) drive the zoom operation of this lens is barely audible making it perfectly suited for video shooting applications.
