Sony a7C II Overview
The a7C II is a compact yet robust full-frame camera, designed for still and motion picture creators. Weighing only 0.429 kg, this versatile device is packed with cutting-edge technology and exceptional performance. It features a 33.0-effective-megapixel image sensor that supports 4K 60p/50p movie recording, as well as high-quality still photography, making it perfect for hybrid shooters.
33 Megapixel Full-Frame CMOS Sensor with Advanced BIONZ XR Engine
The a7C II offers impressive features, starting with a 33.0-megapixel full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor, which delivers top-notch image quality for both stills and video. It has an advanced BIONZ XR processing engine that significantly outperforms its predecessor by minimising latency and boosting overall image quality. The camera's new AE algorithm provides consistently accurate exposure and colour, particularly in challenging lighting conditions, enhancing natural skin tones and the colour of the sky and foliage.
Realise Your Vision with Creative Look
The Creative Look feature includes 10 customisable presets to personalise your visual storytelling, allowing in-camera editing of various image parameters such as contrast and saturation. The camera also supports selectable RAW image sizes and quality, including a lossless compression option for maximum image fidelity.
Advanced 5-Axis and 7.0 Step Image Stabilisation
Regarding stabilisation, the a7C II features an advanced 5-axis and 7.0-step image stabilisation system, offering more stable handheld shooting for stills. Compatibility with over 70 E-mount lenses extends the range of creative possibilities, including options for breathtaking resolution and exquisite bokeh.
Outstanding 4K Movie Recording up to 60/50p
For filmmakers, the camera provides outstanding 4K movie recording at up to 60p/50p, featuring full pixel readout and no pixel binning. S-Cinetone technology ensures a cinematic look with natural mid-tones, soft colours, and beautiful highlights. Advanced 10-bit 4:2:2 video encoding simplifies post-production, offering more natural gradations.
The a7C II offers professional video features like Log recording with LUT previews, Active Mode image stabilisation for handheld shooting, and breathing compensation for consistent focus. Metadata embedded in the recorded footage significantly speeds up post-production workflows.
Stay Focused with Real-Time Tracking
The camera also features an advanced AI processing unit that supports subject recognition across various categories, including humans, animals, and inanimate objects. With Real-time Tracking and AI-based Auto Framing, the a7C II allows the photographer or videographer to focus more on composition. At the same time, the camera takes care of tracking and framing, even during remote operation via the Creators' App. Thus, the a7C II is an essential tool for creators requiring compact size without compromising on full-frame power.
Smarter, Faster Auto Focus
The a7C II camera offers a variety of advanced features aimed at both amateur and professional photographers. Its AF performance is highly optimised, thanks to the BIONZ XR engine and updated algorithms. The device utilises up to 759 phase-detection points that cover about 94% of the image area, offering speed and precision. The number of detection points can vary based on the shooting mode and lens type used. Moreover, the camera achieves accurate AF even in low EV -4.0 light conditions, courtesy of its latest algorithms. It also has a Focus Priority mode for more reliable AF in difficult lighting situations.
Continuous Still Shooting at up to 10 fps with AF/AE Tracking
Regarding shooting speed, the a7C II permits continuous shooting at up to 10 fps with AF/AE tracking, making it simpler to capture perfect moments, especially with moving subjects.
2.36 Million-Dot XGA OLED Electronic Viewfinder
The device is designed for ease of use, featuring a 2.36 million-dot XGA OLED electronic viewfinder that provides a high-resolution display. Intuitive touch controls allow quick access to shooting modes, while a stable grip ensures comfortable handheld shooting. Controls are streamlined for efficient operation, and including a vari-angle monitor further enhances shooting flexibility.
Durable Magnesium Alloy Body with Broad Connectivity
The camera's construction offers durability and resistance against dust and moisture, thanks to a magnesium alloy chassis and well-sealed buttons and dials. On the connectivity front, the a7C II ensures stable smartphone connectivity and offers the option of functioning as a 4K webcam, adding value to online meetings and live-streaming events. The Creators' Cloud platform supports creative work by integrating advanced Sony camera technology with cloud-based AI solutions.
Environmentally-Minded
Environmentally, the a7C II aligns with Sony's "Road to Zero" plan aimed at achieving a zero environmental footprint. The camera uses recyclable materials, including SORPLAS, thereby reducing environmental stress without compromising performance. Accessibility features such as a screen reader function are also incorporated, making the technology more inclusive. Overall, the a7C II is a robust, versatile, and environmentally-conscious choice for photography enthusiasts.
Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 PZ G Lens
The Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 PZ G Lens (SELP1635G) incorporates Sony's extensive lens design experience and expertise into the world's lightest full-frame wide-angle power-zoom lens with a constant F4 aperture, giving exceptional performance and control. This tiny, lightweight lens' innovative construction achieves the photographic performance that has become associated with Sony G lenses. Two AA (advanced aspherical) elements, one standard aspherical element, one Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and one ED glass element, and one ED aspherical element comprise the optical path. All of this ensures that chromatic and spherical aberrations are corrected for optimal optical performance.
All-new Electronic Power Zoom
The Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 PZ G Lens (Extreme Dynamic) Linear autofocus motors provide zoom control for the first time in a lens. The use of XD Linear Motors for zoom drive results in exceptional efficiency and responsiveness in actuator design. The user's intent is faithfully represented by detecting subtle zoom ring movements and promptly converting them to genuine zoom operations. Furthermore, the maximum zoom speed across the whole range of the lens is roughly twice that of prior models. For real power-zoom operation, a zoom lever is installed on the Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 lens barrel.
XD Linear Motors for AF and Zoom
The Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 PZ G Wide-angle Lens uses six (6) XD Linear Motors to power both zoom and autofocus, giving extraordinarily fast, responsive, and accurate AF with the silent and low-vibration operation, which is yet another first in a lens.
World's lightest F4 wide-angle PZ lens
The SELP1635G is the world's lightest F4 wide-angle power-zoom lens, thanks to the latest improvements in design and manufacturing technology. Remarkably, this is accomplished without sacrificing image quality.
Superior Mobility, control, and reliability
The lightweight Sony FE 16-35mm f/4 PZ G Lens (SELP1635G) incorporates focus, zoom, and aperture rings in a design that maximises control and adaptability for movies and stills. An Iris Lock switch has also been included to avoid unintentional alterations.
