Driving the autofocus system are two XD (eXtreme Dynamic) Linear Motors that perfectly complementsthe high-speed functionality of Sony’s camera bodies. Combined with new control algorithms, the resulting autofocus is incredibly snappywhile still being smooth, precise and nearly silent.

Get Up Close and Personal with Short Minimum Focus

Aside from shooting wide-angle landscapes, the 20mm lens is has a minimum focusing distance of just 0.19m in AF modeor 0.18m when focused manually. This lets you get up close and personal with subjects and makes it a great choice for video efforts as well.The focus hold button is set right out of the box butcan also be assigned to select other functions using your camera body’s menu.

Blessed with Beautiful Bokeh

A rounded 9-blade diaphragm paired with the wide f1.8 aperture delivers lovely and smooth bokeh effects in the out of focus background and highlight areas of your images. This look works really well for your close-up shots, helping make your subject really pop from the background.

Advanced Optical Design and Superb Image Quality

The optical construction features 14 elements arranged in 12 groups. It includes 2 AA (advanced aspherical) elements and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to minimise distortion and colour aberrations so your images are sharp, clear, and beautifully vibrant. The lens also has Sony’s Nano AR Coating to help control flare and ghosting.
