Sharp Optical Performance
The Sigma 56mm f1.4 DC DN is a great addition to their Contemporary lens series, offering sharp optical performance in a lightweight, compact body. This 56mm lens is available for Micro Four Thirds and Sony APS-C E-Mount cameras, and supports Sony's Hybrid Autofocus. With a wide f1.4 aperture, you can take great shots even in low light. This fixed focal length lens is perfect for capturing portraits, travel shots and more.
Versatile Focal Length for MFT and APS-C Cameras
Sigma’s 56mm f1.4 DC DN lens is designed for smaller sensors. It’s available for Micro Four Thirds cameras where it offers a 35mm equivalent focal length of 112mm. On APS-C E-mount cameras, it has a slightly wider 84mm equivalent focal length. This mid-telephoto look lends itself perfectly to creating expressive and detailed portraits, without having to get too close to your subject.
Bright F1.4 Aperture
Adding to the beautiful image quality of the lens is a bright f1.4 aperture. It provides excellent depth of field control, allowing you to really get creative with background and foreground focus. Not only that, but the wide aperture also performs brilliantly in lowlight, making it great for nightscapes too.
Stepping Motor for Smooth Autofocus
The Sigma 56mm lens employs a stepping motor to power its autofocus system, resulting in smooth, quiet, and reliable autofocus. The lens can also support Sony’s Hybrid AF for even better tracking, using your E-mount camera’s face recognition system to keep your subjects in focus at all times. Of course, when you want more control, manual focus is still right at your fingertips.
10 Elements in 6 Groups
The optical design consists of 10 elements in 6 groups. This includes a Super Low Dispersion (SLD) element that helps control and correct colour aberrations. Sigma has also applied their Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce ghosting and flare, producing images with improved colour and contrast.
Rounded 9 Blade Diaphragm
A diaphragm with 9 rounded blades helps create a more visually pleasing ‘bokeh’ effect in your out of focus highlights and background elements. Pairing beautifully with the wide aperture, you can achieve some really amazing depth of field separation between your subject and background.
Weather Resistant Lens Mount
The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 Contemporary lens features a rugged brass mount for exceptional durability and stability when connected to your camera. The mount attachment point has also been sealed, so it’s moisture and dust-resistant, making it an excellent and versatile all-rounder for your camera.
