The Bokeh Master
The Sigma 105mm f.1.4 ART lens is aptly nicknamed the Bokeh Master for a reason. Its ultra-bright f/1.4 aperture and mid-telephoto focal length of 105mm combine to create a super shallow depth of field, which blurs the background of your shot into a stunning soft blur - ideal for portraiture.
Mid-Telephoto Focal Length
The 105mm focal length provides excellent compression that helps isolate your subject from the background to creates a more flattering perspective for portraits and headshots.
Bright f/1.4 Aperture
Designed to excel at low-light shooting and shallow depth-of-field shots, the 105mm ART lens from Sigma has a wide maximum aperture of f/1.4, making it one of the brightest lenses available with such a long telephoto reach.
Excellent Optical Performance
Boasting 17 elements arranged in 12 groups, the 105mm ART has a larger number of elements than a traditional prime lens. These additional elements are designed to minimise axial chromatic aberration and control peripheral darkening to reduce image vignetting. The optics are also designed to minimise coma flare making the lens able to capture clear astrophotography images.
Refined Elements for Sharpness
The optical construction of the lens includes several special elements so that the lens can render incredibly sharp high-resolution images. As well as aspherical elements the lens also makes us of both SLD (special low dispersion) elements and FLD elements that have some of the highest levels of light transmission available.
Anti-flare Coating
With a super multi-layer coating on the elements, optical flaring has been reduced to enhance the image contrast when capturing backlit sunset shots or shooting towards powerful lighting. The front element also has a water and oil resistant coating that make it easier to keep clean.
Hypersonic Autofocus Motor
The high-speed hypersonic motor delivers incredibly accurate autofocus performance and the Sony E-mount version is compatible with continuous AF. The Canon mount version even supports in-camera lens aberration correction.
Dust and Splash Resistant Sealing
The hood of the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 is made from carbon fibre reinforced plastic, which is a stronger material than the normal ABS plastic used for lens hoods. The lens itself has a dust and splash proof design and sigma’s unique mount sealing connection
