The Samyang 85 mm f/1.4 prime lens Nikon Z Ex-Demo is available for every major digital SLR¹ manufacturer including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus and Pentax. Its fixed 85mm focal length is considered perfect for portrait photography. The bright f/1.4 aperture combined with the 85mm focal length is great for isolating your subject by beautifully blurring any distractions in the background. Similar to the days of earlySLR cameras, the Samyang requires manual focusing and aperture adjustment. Thankfully, the silky smooth action of the dampened focus ring and 1/2EV increments (except when stepping from f/1.4 to f/2.0 and f/16 to f/22) of the aperture ring make finding correct focus and exposure a breeze. Despite these two omissions, the build and optical quality of the lens is exceptional.
