Capture the Whole Scene with Samyang 18mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens
Are you after a lightweight lens that can be mounted on a gimbal or used handheld with a wide enough field of view to capture the entire scene without distortion? The Samyang 18mm f/2.8 autofocus lens is the perfect choice. It features a 9-piece optical construction, an ultra Multi-coating optical lens coating and a linear stepper motor for sharp and accurate autofocus performance.
Wide Angle Performance for E-Mount Cameras
18mm is the great focal length to use when you need to capture a wide scene without the exaggerated barrel distortion commonly found on ultra-wide-angle lenses. That’s not to say the lens isn’t wide though, it still covers an impressive 100° field of view, making it perfect for landscapes, group portraits and videography.
Full Frame and APS-C Compatible
Using Sony’s E mount allows the lens to be compatible with cameras with both Full frame and APS-C sized image sensors. This means the lens works with the A6000 series as well as the A7 series of cameras as well.
Bright f/2.8 Aperture
With a bright f/2.8 aperture combined with the wide-angle focal length. The lens is a great choice for astrophotography. The f/2.8 aperture also creates a shallow depth of field to separate your subject from the background for better looking results and has a 7-bladed aperture that creates stunning 14-point starbursts when the aperture is closed down.
Optical Construction with Specialised Elements
The lens uses an optical construction consisting of 9 elements arranged in 8 group and Samyang has used 8 specialised elements to ensure the best image performance. It uses three aspherical elements as well as two high refractive and three low dispersion elements to achieve sharp high-resolution results.
Lightning Fast Linear Autofocus
Using a linear stepping motor, the lens delivers the snappy autofocus performance demanded by todays photographers and video shooters and has an internal focusing design that keeps the lens length constant. This works perfectly with the Sony camera system for quiet and reliable autofocus.
Super Lightweight Construction
The real benefit of the Samyang 18mm is that it’s incredibly lightweight and portable, making it excellent for shooting on-the-go and an excellent travel lens. Weighing in at a mere 0.145kg, it’s hard to believe that such a small lens can achieve such sharp results.
