Its updated condenser capsule delivers a directional supercardioid polar pattern which delivers an improvement on dynamic range while effectively isolating environmental noise for broadcast-quality audio that is focused on the subject in front of the camera.

Powered by a 9V Battery

The mic is powered by a 9V battery (sold separately) which delivers up to a solid 70 hours of use. Its remarkable noise floor of just 14dB ensures minimal hissing and static noise when no audio is being recorded, delivering a crisp, clean overall result.

Proven Rycote Lyre Shock Mount

Also updated is the Rycote Lyre anti-noise, anti-shock mount which dramatically reduces unwanted handling noise caused by physical knocks and bumps during recording. Made from a hard-wearing thermoplastic material, the Lyre system will never wear out, sag or snap, providing superior longevity compared to elastic suspension style shock mounts.

Customisable Level Control

The rear of the VMPR houses the power switch and a 3-setting level control that provides a neutral, -10dB and impressive +20dB boost delivering better results for your specific shooting environment.

3.5mm Mini-Jack Output

Suitable for DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and camcorders the Rode VideoMic Pro R with Rycote Lyre Suspension Mount uses a 3.5mm mini-jack for maximum compatibility with a broad range of devices. A standard cold-shoe mount delivers straightforward attachment to the top of your camera. The mount also features a 3/8 inch thread at its base for convenient mounting to tripods, boom poles, light stands and more.
