With the same acoustic design as the Rode NTG5, the VideoMic NTG combines the incredible flat frequency response and natural sound of a broadcast microphone with the portability and versatility of the VideoMic series. This is largely thanks to Rode’s annular line tube technology, which delivers revolutionary audio performance with a highly directional supercardioid pickup pattern.

High Pass Filters, -20dB Pad, High Boost and Peak Indicator

Offering more control that ever over the sound captured, the mic has two switchable high pass filters for 75 and 150 Hertz to control rumble and exaggerated low end. The mic also has an LED that indicates when your audio is clipping as well as a -20dB pad and a high frequency boost that is optimised for recording audio with foam windshields.

Infinitely Variable Gain Control

Boasting a unique infinitely variable gain control Videomic NTG has a control dial built into the base. This allows for control over recording levels so you can keep your camera preamp low and avoid signal noise and enhancing the versatility of the mic, ensuring you can get the perfect level on any device. The gain control can be used to set the output from a mic level signal all the way up to a headphone level output, ideal when using the 3.5mm jack as a headphone port.

-20dB Safety Channel Feature & USB Output

The Rode VideoMic NTG inherits the popular safety channel feature from the Video Mic Pro and Pro+ microphones. This splits the stereo signal and decreases the gain on the one of the channels by -20dB allowing you to salvage clipped audio with distortion in post-production. It also works as a fully functional USB microphone, making it ideal of podcasts, streaming and recording audio direct to your computer.

Robust & Portable Build with Sliding Rail Mount

Built from aerospace grade aluminium, the microphone is designed to be as tough as it is versatile with a lightweight construction that makes it easy to hold for long periods when mounted to a boom pool. It also attaches to the hot shoe of your camera with a sliding rail system that allows it to be carefully balanced.

Rycote Shock Mount with Integrated Cable Management

With a rubber Rycote Lyre shock mount, the microphone is protected from vibrations and small bumps, delivering cleaner audio as a result. The shock mount system also includes built-in cable management functionality with clips to secure any loose cables.

Auto-sensing Output Function

A new automatic feature detects when the mic is connected either to a camera or to a smartphone or tablet. It then switches the output to the correct TRS or TRRS, depending on the device connected and outputs the signal via the includes SC10 cable.

Automatic Power & Built-in Rechargeable Battery

The Rode Video Mic NTG hybrid shotgun microphone has the same auto-power feature introduced with the VideoMic Pro+ which detects when a connected camera is turned on or off and controls the power of the mic. This helps the built-in rechargeable lithium battery in the microphone to last longer and prevents against accidental recording without audio if someone forgets to turn the mic on.
