Designed for High-End Film Production
The Panasonic S1H is the world's first Mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that is capable of 6K video recording. Truly pushing the boundaries of technical innovation, the S1H and its incredible imaging possibilities are looking to disrupt the digital cinema and film production industry forever.
24.2 Megapixel CMOS Sensor
Equipped with a Full-Frame 24.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor and the latest Venus Engine image processor, the S1H has been tuned for excellent low-noise performance cinema quality colour reproduction with a 14-stop dynamic range.
5-Axis Sensor Shift Image Stabilisation
The inclusion of 5-Axis Sensor Shift Stabilisation makes the S1H a very compelling proposition. Compensating for camera-shake when shooting hand-held or on a gimbal, it delivers up to 6 stops of compensation or 6.5 stops when paired with a Dual I.S 2 compatible lens.
Dual Native ISO
Inheriting technology from Panasonic's broadcast range of video cameras, the Lumix S1H is equipped with Dual Native ISO, delivering low noise results in a broad range of lighting conditions. The system comprises of two dedicated circuits for each pixel. This design allows you to use the cameras included picture profiles to deliver clean footage across a broad range of ISO values.
Low ISO Circuit
Its Low ISO circuit provides base sensitivities of ISO100, ideal for regular use. In this mode, ISO values change to ISO640 when V-Log is applied, ISO400 when HLG is applied, and ISO200 when Cinelike D2 is applied.
Low Noise Circuit
The alternative Low Noise circuit offers base sensitivities of ISO640 for normal use, ISO 4000 with V-Log, ISO 2500 with HLG and ISO 1250 when Cinelike D2 is used. The end result is a wide range of options, allowing you to fine-tune your recording based on your specific shooting environment.
6K Video Recording has Arrived
Creating a new entry-point for cinematography the Lumix S1H can deliver true 6K/24p (3:2 aspect ratio) video from it's full frame Sensor. Additionally, it is also the world's first interchangeable lens camera that can shoot 5.9K/30p (16:9 aspect ratio) and 10-bit 60p 4K or Cinema 4K, helping push the technical and creative potential for what's possible in a mirrorless sized camera.
4K 10-bit 60p Video Recording
Like all of Panasonic's range, the camera also supports a variety of recording formats, including 10-bit 4K at 60p, and a 4:3 anamorphic mode at 48p. The high-resolution data of the S1H can also be downscaled to create exceptionally detailed 4K video content for truly life-like results.
Full HD Slow Motion
The S1H is also capable of using an equivalent Super 35mm area of the sensor to output frame rates up to 59.94p. Full HD is also supported at up to 120p for cinematic quality slow-motion effects.
Fast 9fps Burst Mode Shooting
But the S1H is not just a one-trick video recording pony. Its also a very capable stills shooter, delivering an impressive maximum 9fps continuous shooting mode.
96 Megapixel Ultra-High Resolution Mode
Clever utilisation of the 5-Axis Sensor Stabilisation allows the camera to precisely move the sensor to composite a ultra-high resolution 96 megapixel image for maximum detail and post-processing versatility.
14+ Stops of Dynamic Range
The significance of the S1H comes from not only the recording resolution the camera is capable of, but also the rich gradation and wide colour space the sensor can capture. Boasting a range of 14+ stops to ensure a wide spectrum of detail is captured from dark to bright areas, its performance is comparable to Panasonic's high-end Cinema VariCam, except in a significantly more portable size and affordable price range.
V-Log / V-Log L Colour Profile
The S1H offers V-Log/V-Gamut to ensure maximum detail and accuracy in the subtlety of subjects such as skin tone. Designed to fit seamlessly into your existing Panasonic setup, the S1H is compatible with V-Log recorded by VariCam or V-Log L footage from a Lumix GH5 or GH5s
In-Camera LUT Support
Support for an in-Camera LUT makes monitoring easier, offering a more accurate display of the colour and tone of a scene before post-production even begins. Handy for keeping your rig portable and easy to set up, it potentially eliminates the requirement of a bulky external monitor.
Unlimited Video Recording Time
Similar to all of Panasonic's recent Lumix G and S series cameras, the S1 H is capable of non-stop video recording in every recording mode (depending on battery and memory card capacity). In order to deliver the high product reliability required for mission critical filming scenarios, Panasonic has worked hard to solve heat management problems that are traditionally associated with mirrorless and DSLR cameras to be able to offer an uncompromising solution. This ensures the S1H is suitable for recording a variety of long form subject matter including documentaries, interviews corporate events and more.
Simultaneous Recording
To cater to crews working on critical scenes, the S1H offers simultaneous internal and external recording. Internally the camera utilises Dual UHS-II SD memory card slots and features a HDMI output that supports 4K60 4:2:2 10-bit while recording 4:2:0 10-bit internally or 4K30 4:2:2 10-bit internally and externally.
SMPTE Compliant Time Code
Built-in compatibility with SMPTE-compliant time code ensures it plays nicely with other broadcast cameras. Integrating easily with your existing workflow, footage from the S1H can be easily synced from multiple camera sources saving time and offering convenience during your edit.
Built-in Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Connectivity
The convenience of Bluetooth Low Energy functionality and an ultra-fast 802.11ac Wireless speed ensures a quick, hassle-free connection to your smartphone. Improve your creative potential and social reach by enabling remote shutter release, start/stop video recording and fast image transfer to a smartphone or tablet device.
5.76-Million Dot OLED EVF
Equipped for accuracy, the Panasonic S1H utilises a cutting-edge Real View EVF that utilises a 5.76 million-dot OLED EVF with a large 0.78x viewing magnification that can be customised based on your shooting scenario.
10,000:1 Contrast Ratio
Virtually lag free, the EVF is rated at 0.005 seconds lag and features a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Its display frame rate can also be adjusted between 60 and 120fps allowing you to fine-tune the display specific to your subject matter or personal preference.
3.2-inch LCD Touchscreen
The rear of the camera houses a larger 3.2-inch LCD Touchscreen. With a 2.33 million dot resolution, it works well with critical focusing applications, ensuring your photos and video are tack-sharp. The touch screen functionality provides a natural, intuitive experience when navigating menus and reviewing photos and video.
Live View Boost & Night Mode
Catering to shooting in difficult lighting, the LCD can be set to a Live View Boost mode where it's viewing sensitivity can be fine-tuned to aid in composing your image when working with dimly lit scenes. For Astro shooters, a Night Mode can be activated to lower the screens backlight intensity while overlaying a red-filter on the display to better preserve your night-adjusted vision.
Articulating Screen Design
The articulating design of the rear screen has a cult following in camera circles. Its flip-out design enables shooting from low and high angles with comfort and can be flipped forward for easy monitoring when filming yourself.
Weather Sealed Construction
Constructed from a durable weather-sealed magnesium alloy chassis, the Panasonic Lumix S1H is designed to be a workhorse, capable of holding its own against the toughest shooting conditions. Signalling a new-era of cinematic and professional broadcast equipment, it seamlessly blends uncompromising technical internals with confidence inspiring ergonomics to deliver a truly new standard in camera technology.
