With a high-resolution 5.7K Super 35mm sensor, the Panasonic AU-EVA1 cinema camera delivers a massive 14-stop dynamic range in an extremely light and compact body. Perfect for run-and-gun work, the EVA 1 can handle a range of shooting conditions with a Dual Native ISO for low light performance, V-Log capabilities for colour grading and ultra-fast frame capability of up to 240fps in Full HD. An EF mount, Dual SD card slots and Electronic Image Stabilisation ensure it has all the feature professional shooters need.
5.7K Super 35mm Image Sensor
Built for modern filmmakers, The Panasonic AU-EVA1 features an advanced Super 35mm sensor that captures video with a 5.7K resolution with more than 17.25 million photosites - almost double the amount required to capture 4K DCI. The resulting footage can be down sampled to 4K, UHD, 2K or 720p for sharp results that offer optimised colour quality and excellent detail.
Dual Native ISO of 800 and 2500
Featuring a Dual Native ISO of 800/2500, the handheld 35mm camera can quickly switch between standard and high sensitivity to minimise grain in low light conditions. This reducing image degradation, and allows you to capture clean footage regardless of lighting condition, dramatically increasing your range of shooting options.
14-stops of Dynamic Range
A huge 14-stops of Dynamic Range gives you compositional and exposure flexibility that can be modified during the post production process. The camera performs incredibly well in high contrast scenes, allowing you to capture a huge amount of detail as well as a wide range of colour and light.
V-Log / V-Gamut Capture
The EVA1 captures such a wide dynamic range using Panasonic’s V-Log and V-Gamut technology, which can accurately reproduce a massive range of colours while at the same time delivering rich skin tones, perfect for both HDR and SDR production workflows. The large colour profile and unique log curve allow you to capture a massive amount of colour information, that provide complete colour grading flexibility for your post production workflow.
Electronic Image Stabilisation
To assist with shooting handheld footage, the EVA1 has built-in Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) that compensates for camera shake. Able to switch on and off at the touch of a button, the EIS works in UHD, 4K, 2K, and Full HD resolutions. It is an innovative way to incorporate stabilisation into a video camera without using a floating sensor that may not play nicely with some cinema camera movement rigs.
Focus Assist Modes
The camera has several integrated focus aids to make sure that your focus is spot on, every time. A Focus Box assist displays several green squares that increase in size over the part of the shot that is in focus, while the peaking mode displays a coloured highlight on the subject in focus. A one-push auto focus function works with lenses that support autofocus and can help you get a quick starting focus point.
ND and IR Cut filters
Positioned behind the lens mount, the Panasonic EVA-1 Super 35 features built-in ND filters in 2, 4 and 6 stops, so you can accurately control the exposure. A removeable infrared (IR) filter further heightens your control, reducing colour distortion and allowing other effect like night vision. Both types of filters are electronically controlled, allowing you to operate them wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet.
Compatible with EF Mount Lenses
The EF mount used on the camera means you can shoot with a wide range of cinema prime and zoom lenses. Full compatibility ensures the EVA1 Cinema Camera supports Iris Control, One-Push AF and lens data for convenience.
Accepts Affordable SD Cards
Dual SD card slots rather than CFast or SSD means that recording high quality videos on the EVA 1 is convenient and more cost effective. Two cards can be used at the same time for simultaneous dual recording for complete data protection. Alternatively, the Relay Record function lets you record for long periods by overflowing from one card to the other when full.
Internal 10-But 4:2:2 Sampling
The camera captures up to 10-bit 4:2:2 footage internally without requiring an external recorder. 4K footage can be recorded at up to 59.94 fps, 120fps in 2K with a slight crop and 240fps for super slow-motion footage in a 2K resolution with a Micro Four Thirds crop.
XLR Audio Inputs and Stereo Microphone
Thanks to dual XLR audio inputs, Dolby audio encoding is available. You can output 4K video to an external recorder or monitor using the split HDMI and SDI video outputs, and Panasonic have announced that an optional RAW recording accessory should be available soon. Timecode functionality makes it possible to use of multi-camera setups and synchronise the footage easily.
3.5-Inch Touchscreen Monitor
A touch enabled 3.5-Inch LCD Monitor allows users to adjust basic settings, receive live updates on camera operation and preview a live video feed. The monitor hood ensures that the monitor is visible while shooting outside or in dim lighting.
Compact and Lightweight Build
Weighing only 1.2 kg without accessories, the Panasonic AU-EVA1 5.7K Super 35mm Compact Cinema Camera has been designed to be incredibly portable, making it perfect for handheld shoots and run-and-gun productions. The 5900mAh battery powers the Panasonic EVA1 for up to 90 minutes making it a great camera to take on location.
