The lens also delivers a reasonable minimal focus distance at 50mm of only 50cm, allowing you to get nice and close for macro-like shots.

16 Optical Elements in 12 Groups

The lens uses 16 elements carefully organised into 12 groups that deliver incredible imaging performance with a fraction of the weight traditionally required. One of these optical elements is an ED glass element which controls chromatic aberrations for better image performance.

Built-in Vibration Reduction

The sharpness of images captured with the 50-250mm is enhanced with the inclusion of an integrated Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) system. Delivering a ridiculous 5-stops of image stabilisation which makes it even easier to shoot at the telephoto end of the lens while still capturing sharp handheld images.

7-Bladed Aperture

With 7 circular aperture blades the lens can render stunning 14-point starbursts when shooting with the aperture closed down and directed at point light sources. Not only that but when the aperture is opened up wide the lens creates a soft bokeh with a beautiful focus roll perfect for isolating your subject from the background.

Quiet Operation for Video Recording

Movie recording is optimised with a lens design that minimises operational sounds to avoid distractions when capturing video footage. Focus breathing has also been significantly reduced as well for smoother focus pulls between subjects.
