The Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2x Ultra-Macro APO lens Canon EF is a world first. We've never seen a 100mm lens with such a massive macro magnification. Macro photographers usually expect a 1:1 magnification ratio, but the Laowa 100mm ultra macro lens takes it up a notch with a whopping 2x magnification. This magnification, combined with the impressive 100mm telephoto focal length, allows you to capture stunningly detailed close-up shots.

2:1 Ultra Macro

Designed specifically for close-up macro work, the lens has an impressive 2:1 reproduction ratio combined with a minimal focusing distance of only 24.7cm. The 2x ultra macro ability allows subjects to be projected on your camera sensor with a massive 2x magnification, so you can capture incredibly fine close-up detail.

100mm Mid Telephoto Focal Length

An ideal focal length for getting close to your subject, 100mm is the most popular lens for macro photography, and although. Inspired by the Laowa 60mm the new 100mm macro brings the world a little closer to you, but it’s not just a one trick pony, the compression of the mid telephoto lens is also flattering making it suited for portraiture as well.

Bright f/2.8 Aperture

With a large aperture of f/2.8, the lens creates beautiful out-of-focus areas, perfect for capturing images with an ultra-shallow depth of field. It also provides a higher level of light transmission so you can shoot in darker conditions without boosting your ISO. The Canon mount has 9 aperture blades, the Nikon uses 7, and the Sony FE version employs 13 aperture blades to deliver smooth bokeh every time.

Manual Focus Ring and Aperture Control

Take control with the large manual focus ring at the end of the lens barrel to make precise adjustments over where the focus land in your composition. The Sony and Nikon mount lenses include an additional control ring for setting the aperture while the Canon EF mount includes a CPU chip and motor for camera-controlled aperture adjustments.

Refined Optical Design

Laowa make lenses with an emphasis on quality, which is why the 100mm use an optical construction consisting of 12 elements organised into 10 groups. This sophisticated optical design has multiple low dispersion elements that eliminate colour fringing and chromatic aberrations to deliver more accurate colour, giving the lens it’s trademark apochromatic (APO) designation.

The Laowa 100mm 2x Ultra Macro f/2.8 APO macro lens Canon EF is designed for full frame sensors, making it an ideal alternative for their alternative 60mm 2:1 ultra-macro lens when shooting with cameras that have a 35mm size image sensor.
