The Canon RF 50mm F1.2L USM Lens

The Canon RF 50mm L series lens is designed for Canon's R-mount mirrorless camera systems. As a long-time favourite, the 50mm focal length is an important addition to any kit. It works well in a huge range of scenarios, from street photography, to landscape and portraits. It offers a natural looking view of your subject with just the right amount of beautiful background compression.

Bright f1.2 Aperture

A fast f1.2 aperture performs brilliantly in lowlight conditions. This works well for capturing city nightscapes or portraits in dimly lit spaces. Combined with the 50mm focal length, this wide aperture perfectly lends itself to making your close-up shots a more dramatic with smoothly blurred backgrounds that really make your subject stand out.

Fast, Accurate Autofocus

An Ultra Sonic Motor (USM) is responsible for autofocus for fast, accurate focus that tracks reliably. Internal focusing ensures the lens size remains the same and keeps the front element from rotating so there's no change to your composition or interference when using CP or ND filters.  For more control over your composition, just switch into manual mode for easy, intuitive focus control.

Dedicated Control Ring

Along with the main focus ring, you'll also find a secondary control ring just in front of it on the 50mm RF lens body. This additional ring is dedicated to controlling features, like aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, directly from the lens itself, so you can shoot more intuitively.

Canon L Series Optical Design

Best known for their unbeatable optical quality, the 50mm RF L series lens is no exception. Its elements feature Canon's new Air Sphere Coating (ASC) to help reduce reflections and flaring resulting in super-sharp images with better contrast and colour reproduction.  

Aperture Blades for Better Bokeh

A rounded 9-blade aperture opening helps make circular looking ‘bokeh' effects in the out of focus background and highlights. This smooth, softly blurred background contrasts beautifully against your sharp focal point or subject for more dramatic images with less background distractions.
