28-70mm Zoom Focal Range

Capture epic landscapes and stunning cityscapes with a wide 28mm focal length and then mix it up by twisting the ring to zoom into a 70mm frame. This highly versatile zoom range makes the lens a fantastic workhorse that can be your primary lens for almost any style of photography.

Bright f/2 Constant Aperture

9 Diaphragm Blades

USM Autofocus Motor

By making use of Canon’s Ultrasonic Motor (USM) technology the lens focuses quickly and most importantly quietly, making it a great lens for video work. USM motors convert ultrasonic vibration into the rotational force required to move the elements inside the lens to ensure the focus of your shot is accurate.

Additional Control Ring

 The lens features an extra control ring positioned next to the focus ring that can be customised to allow quick adjustments. Change aperture in the Av mode, shutter speed in the Tv mode, ISO, and exposure compensation on-the-fly while using the cameras EVF.

Sophisticated Optical Construction

One of the secrets of how the lens boasts such a fast aperture is due to a carefully designed optical construction that ensure image quality is consistently excellent even when shooting wide open at f/2. Using 19 elements carefully arranged in 13 groups the lens can capture images with a high level of colour accuracy and edge-to-edge sharpness.

Air Sphere Lens Coating

To combat flaring and ghosting the elements of the lens have been treated with a multi-layered Air Sphere Coating (ASC) that ensure consistent optical performance in any lighting condition. This provides the confidence towards your light source without fear of losing the contrast in your shot.
