Uniting Professional Video and Still Photography

The Canon EOS R5 C is a real hybrid camera that brings together the professional video functions of the Canon Cinema EOS series with the still photography capabilities of the EOS R5. It features an 8K sensor and DIGIC X processing, as well as Canon's high-resolution, high-speed CMOS sensor, which was introduced in the EOS R5 and refined for the EOS R5 C. With the combination of RF mount lenses, the DIGIC X image engine and the 45MP sensor, the Canon R5 C can capture 8K/60p video, as well as high-speed continuous shooting at 20fps and other features.

Expanded Interface & Design for Professional Video

A Timecode terminal is now included for multi-camera filming, and the multi-accessory shoe now accepts professional audio input. A cooling system has been integrated within the R5 C body that allows for uninterrupted shooting of high definition 8K/4K videos.

Internal Cooling Fan for Extended Recording

The Canon EOS R5 C uses a newly improved heat dissipation design with a built-in cooling fan system to keep internal temperature and airflow separate from the main board from increasing. Long hours of nonstop filming in high-quality 8K/60p video are possible thanks to a significant enhancement in the thermal design.

Supports 8k/60p* Internal Raw Recording

When externally powered via the DR-E6C coupler and CA-946 AC adapter or the PD-E1 USB power adapter, the EOS R5 C supports high-quality 8K/60p recording. Besides, the Cinema Light RAW format's high-efficiency mode allows for an 8K/60p internal card recorder without the use of an external recorder. With 16 times the resolution of Full HD video, 8K provides exceptional definition and realism, enabling new levels of visual expression and workflow flexibility, such as 4K cropping from 8K recording. The EOS R5 C can also capture 8K video in MP4 format, which is extremely versatile. While filming 8K, a lighter proxy video can be captured.

High-quality 4K Video

The Canon R5 C feature High Frame Rate (HFR) video capability allowing a maximum 120P at 4K resolution (4096x2160/3840x2160) without cropping the angle of view. The user is able to shoot 4:2:2 10-bit sampling while shooting in HFR. AF is also available when shooting in HFR as well as audio on a separate file from the video. Besides, through oversampling during 4K/2K video recording, the EOS R5 C can readout signals for all effective pixels from its full-frame 8K sensor, enabling 4:2:2 10-bit high-definition recording.

Variety of Recording Formats

The EOS R5C offers MXF-based XF-AVC, which corresponds to broadcasting standards, and highly adaptable MP4 in addition to Cinema RAW Light, which provides light data sizes for RAW recording. In addition, depending on the workflow needs, simultaneous recording options in various file formats, resolutions, and colour samples can be allocated.

High Performance, High Precision Focusing

The revolutionary UI employs Dual Pixel CMOS AF phase-difference detection AF technology, which also informs the user whether the focus point is in the front or back. Touch focus can operate high-speed continuous AF in around 80% of the screen's vertical and horizontal region. Eye AF recognises and tracks the human eye, allowing you to keep shooting while keeping precise focus.

Autofocus that adapts to the movement of the subjects is possible thanks to several AF modes. Even while photographing sports or other fast-moving scenarios, head detection can be used to focus on the back of a person's head, closely tracking the subject.

Communication Functions

Content Transfer Mobile App: Proxy camera files (video/audio) and News Metadata can now be transferred quickly from compatible mobile phones, making workflows quicker and more efficient.

New Browser Remote: The wireless control capability has been optimised for single-operator shooting, and the smartphone and tablet layouts have been improved.

Multi-Function Shoe: Audio can be transmitted as a digital signal when used with an optional XLR adapter and digital MIC.
