Canon have developed an advanced autofocus system that utilises purpose built pixels directly on the sensor that not only record image data but also contain phase-detection autofocus technology to allow the camera to focus while in the live view mode and ensures improved focus operation while shooting videos.

Up to 45 Cross Type Focus Points

With the same autofocus system as the highly popular Canon EOS 80D the 77D has a maximum of 45 focus points, all of which are cross-type points, for incredibly precise focus and subject tracking. The DIGIC 7 chip enables the Canon to shoot at a maximum ISO of 12800 when shooting video files and an impressive ISO of 25600 when shooting stills.
