Designed for Pro Photographers
The Canon EOS 1DX III features a newly developed 20.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, a DIGIC X Image Processor, up to 20fps burst mode with continuous AF/AE tracking, 525 AF Points in live view shooting, in camera 5.5K RAW Video recording, and a slew of connectivity methods to deliver lightning fast images, whatever your workflow.
Going for Gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics
Banking on the fact that many professional sports photographers will buy the EOS 1DX 3 in time to shoot the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, Canon have ensured success by creating the most uncompromising combination of speed, quality and reliability to ever represent the EOS name.
20.1 Megapixel CMOS Sensor
Its newly developed 20.1 Megapixel sensor delivers superb clarity and impressive high-ISO, low noise imaging performance. Paired with Canon’s latest DIG!C X imaging processor, it offers up to 3.1x faster image processing and up to 380x faster computing processing to ensure you’re equipped with the best chance of nailing every shot.
Up to 20fps Continuous Shooting
This imaging power translates to a blistering 16 fps continuous shooting ability with continuous autofocus and auto exposure shooting using the optical viewfinder. In live view shooting, this can be increased to 20fps with the added ability to enable silent shutter to make the camera noise-free when shooting in sensitive occasions such as wedding ceremonies and when shooting skittish wildlife.
Dual CFexpress Memory Card Slots
To sustain this improvement in speed, the 1DX Mark III has upgraded its recording media to utilise dual CFexpress slots for storage. This blisteringly fast new memory format is further complemented by an incredible buffer that is capable of handling more than 1000 shots in RAW or RAW+JPEG mode.
10-Bit HEIF File Support
The camera also supports the latest HEIF imaging format. Promising to deliver richer, more realistic files while being more size efficient than traditional JPEGs, the 10-bit recording standard optimises contrast to deliver a wider dynamic range with ample information to minimise overexposed highlights and capture greater detail.
Maximum Extended ISO819200
The maximum native ISO of the 1DX3 has been doubled from its predecessor. Its new native ISO100-102400 range can be further expanded to an incredible ISO819200, allowing you to capture the shot regardless of how bad the lighting conditions might be.
525 AF Points in Live View Shooting
Bringing together the best of both worlds, the 1DX extensive AF options that can be tailored to your personal preference and the subject you’re shooting. Using a traditional viewfinder gives you access to 191 AF points, 155 Cross-Type and a supported luminance range of EV-4 to 21. Switching to Live View shooting expands your focusing region to 525 selectable AF areas. This is approximately 90% horizontal and 100% vertical coverage of the image display area.
Multiple Autofocus and AF Tracking Modes
Along with the traditional Spot AF, Zone AF and Single Point AF options, the 1DX3 also offers tracking modes for both viewfinder and Live View shooting modes.
Face/Head Detection AF in Viewfinder
Through the viewfinder, the camera can utilise the EOS iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) function to recognise and track colour information, faces and heads.
Face/Eye Detection AF in Live View
When shooting via Live View the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system can track any object with dedicated algorithms for improved tracking of faces and a further algorithm to detect eyes for those critical focusing scenarios.
AF-on Button with Optical AF Point Selection
An innovative optical function has been incorporated in the AF-on buttons at the rear of the camera body. Developed with back-button focus users in mind, the new optical feature delivers a faster, more intuitive method of selecting your focus area or focus point before locking focus. Especially useful when shooting erratic movements and unpredictable scenes, it delivers greater control over what you want to be the focal point of your image while the action is unfolding in front of you.
5.5K60 RAW + 4K60 In-Camera Video Recording
Recognising the trend of photo professionals expanding into the realm of video, Canon have ensured their flagship camera can do it all. The ability of the 1DX III to record video up to 5.5K 60p RAW and 4K 60p with no crop will future proof content creators against changing industry demands.
4:2:2 10-Bit + Canon Log Colour Profile
Making full use of the available speed of the CFexpress storage, the 1DX is also capable of 10-bit 4:2:2 recording internally to suit any modern grading requirements. Additionally, built-in Canon Log is a useful option for users with Canon’s Cinema line of cameras, adding creative versatility to colour correct and standardise footage if you’re filming with a multi-camera set up.
External Microphone + Headphone Support
A 3.5mm microphone input gives you enough flexibility to add your own external microphone or audio recorder, while a 3.5mm headphone terminal ensures simple, convenient audio monitoring.
Bluetooth + Wi-Fi Connectivity
Connectivity in the 1DX Mk 3 has also been significantly upgraded to meet the requirements of the modern working professional. It features built-in Wi-Fi with 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth BLE4.2 compliance for fast, convenient wireless connectivity. Add the optional WFT-E9 wireless File Transmitter module to boost your wireless speed to 802.11 ac and add IPv6 support.
1000 BASE-T Ethernet Port Built-in
For maximum network speed, a 1000BASE-T ethernet port is built-in, along with FTP data transfer capabilities for both stills and video.
GPS Connectivity
GPS Connectivity is also included adding the ability to geotag location data onto your images. GPS can also auto synchronise the cameras built-in clock using GPS time data, a real convenience and time-saver if you’re constantly travelling for assignments across multiple time-zones.
3.15-inch LCD Touch Screen
A generous 3.15-inch ClearView II LCD Touch screen is housed at the rear of the camera. The touch interface makes menu navigation and changing camera settings fast and intuitive. The 2.1 million dot resolution of the screen makes it easy to check for critical focus.
Rugged, Weather Sealed Construction
With its predecessor’s reputation as one of the most rugged, reliable cameras on the market, the Canon EOS 1DXIII continues this tradition. Its magnesium alloy chassis features a lightweight yet highly rigid characteristics. This is reinforced with dust and moisture resistant weather sealing to ensure the camera body can withstand the demands of the modern pro photographer.
Designed for Reliability and Longevity
Leaving no stone unturned, Canon have packed its flagship EOS 1DX3 Full Frame DSLR camera to the teeth, ensuring longevity, even in the dynamic ever-changing environment that is the modern photography and video industry. Backed by an industry leading 5 year warranty means added peace of mind for professionals who can't afford for their gear to fail.
