Long Ultra-Telephoto Reach

Telephoto lenses help capture distant details allowing you to fill your frame with far-away subjects. With an impressive ultra-telephoto focal length, the 100-400mm lens has a versatile focal range allowing you to capture a variety of different subjects. A minimal focus distance of 150cm means that you can still get nice and close if you need to without worrying about your distance.

Lightweight Design

With a well thought-out design the lens uses a magnesium construction in key areas of the lens to dramatically reduce the weight, making it the lightest in its class, weighing in at only 1.115kg. The magnesium elements used in the build of the lens barrel also improve the strength and reliability of the lens.

Sophisticated Optical Elements

To produce ultra-sharp results, the lens has 3 low dispersion elements that correct axial chromatic aberrations that are known to affect telephoto lenses. In addition, the lens uses an eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) coating on the optical elements to significantly eliminate flare and ghosting so you capture beautiful sharp and detailed images without reflections.

Dual MPU Control System

An integrated Dual MPU (Micro-Processing Unit) control system allows the lens to acquire focus with lighting fast precision and manages the vibration compensation to deliver astoundingly steady results, ideal for photo and video applications.

Compatible with TAP-in Console and 1.4x Teleconverter

The 100-400 is compatible with the Tamron TAP-in console, which means that you can make specific modifications to the firmware as well as autofocus, and vibration compensation performance. You can also extend the reach of the lens by adding the Tamron 1.4x teleconverter to multiply the focal length.
