The Sony A6600 is Sony’s most advanced APS-C camera to date, with the same great features as their high-end full frame cameras but with a more compact, range finder-style body. It has an excellent 24.2-megapixel image sensor, records 4K 30p video footage and is jam packed with features like a flip up screen, video Eye-AF, headphone and mic port, as well as a bigger FZ-100 battery that makes it the perfect camera for cinematographers, vloggers and youtubers.
APS-C 24.2-Megapixel Image Sensor
To match the compact body design, the A6600 has an APS-C sized 24.2-megapixel sensor and shares the same mount as it’s full frame brethren. This allows you to attach both E-mount and FE-mount lenses to enjoy an even bigger range of lenses.
Improved BIONZ X Processing Power
Sony have supercharged the A6600 with a new BIONZ X image processor, which uses sophisticated AI technology to improve the performance of Eye-AF and enable the Animal Eye-AF feature. This also enables real-time tracking for incredible results when capturing fast-moving subjects and works in the video mode along with the Eye-AF feature.
Flip Touchscreen and High-Resolution OLED Viewfinder
A flip LCD screen makes the A6600 one of the best cameras for youtubers, vloggers and single camera operator, the perfect feature to pair with the video Eye-AF functionality. Along with the flip screen the camera also has a high-resolution electronic viewfinder (EVF) with a 2.4 million dot resolution and a frame rate up to 120fps.
4K HDR Video with Log Colour Profiles
The A6600 captures high resolution 4K video downsampled from a 6K sensor readout for stunning video footage with enhanced detail. The camera can also shoot with the HLG colour profile for fast HDR workflows as well as S-Log2 and S-Log 3 if you prefer to manually colour correct your shots. It also includes a headphone port for audio monitoring as well as an audio input so you can add an external mic.
120fps Slow Motion and Time-lapse Video Recording
Cinematographers will appreciate that the A6600 can capture slow motion video with autofocus and audio at 120fps that can be slowed down in post-production. Alternatively, the camera has the S&Q mode that conforms the slow-motion footage in camera to your chosen frame rate but now it is accessible quickly using the mode dial. It can also be used to shoot time-lapses by selecting a frame rate as slow as 1 frame-per-second.
High Speed 11fps Image Capture
With an ultra-high-speed drive mode, the A6600 can capture up to 11 full resolution RAW images in just one second. Combined with the cameras impressive autofocus system this means it is the perfect camera for fast moving subjects and quick action shots.
425 Phase and 425 Contrast Autofocus Detect Points
Delivering an enhanced autofocus experience, the A6600 has an increased number of contrast detection autofocus points with 425 rather than the 169 that the previous model had. It also keeps the impressive 425 phase detection autofocus points that work in combination with the contrast points for reliable and lightning quick AF performance.
Boosted Low-Light Performance
Another benefit of the new image processor is that the ISO range of the camera has been extended to 102,400, which delivers improved low-light performance for photographers and video shooters who love the drama and mood of dark lighting conditions.
Built-in Image Stabilisation
First introduced in the A6500, the A6600 also has built-in image stabilisation that controls vibrations and shakes so you can record more stable looking video footage as well as sharp hand-held images even when shooting with longer shutter speeds. The in-body design means that the stabilisation system works with any lens, including vintage and cinema glass.
Improved Ergonomics
One of the advantages of using the same FZ-100 battery found in the latest A7 cameras is that along with a dramatically improved battery life the camera also has a larger grip that makes it easier to balance bigger lenses and generally more comfortable to use.LENS | |
