Boasting the title of the world's first lens to include Blue Spectrum Refractive (BR) optics the 35mm f/1.4L II delivers extraordinary edge-to-edge image quality and vivid, true-to-life colour replication.

Minimised Chromatic Aberration

The BR lens technology utilises an organic optical material that has been engineered at a molecular level to refract blue light. This innovation significantly reduces chromatic aberration, improving image sharpness and detail across the entire frame.

UD and Aspherical Lens Elements

Constructed from 14 elements in 11 groups, the EF 35mm II lens also utilises an Ultra-low Distortion (UD) element and two aspherical elements to deliver maximum image sharpness and clarity.

SWC & Fluorine Coating

A Sub Wavelength Structure Coating (SWC) further improves optical performance, delivering anti-reflective protection to its elements, helping to reduce flare, ghosting and internal reflections. A fluorine coating on the front element is also utilised to help repel liquids, oils and particles for maximum optical transparency.

Bright f/1.4 Maximum Aperture

Its large f/1.4 maximum aperture is constructed using 9 aperture blades to create beautifully rendered, ultra-smooth, extremely shallow depth of field effects. The bright aperture also ensures greater exposure control when shooting in low-light scenarios.
