The Shogun 7 is a recorder, monitor and switcher with the features that matter to professional cinema and video shooters. It can capture high resolution DCI 4K60p recordings and boasts a massive 7.2-inch 1500 nit display with a massive 15+ stops of dynamic range. But that’s not all, the Shogun 7 boasts a HDMI 2.0 port that support live Dolby Vision output in addition to 4 SDI ports that enable simultaneous monitoring, recording, and switching of up to 4 HD streams.
Record DCI 4K 60p RAW Footage
The external recorder can capture an ultra-high resolution of 4096x2160 signal at a frame rate up to 60p as well as an impressive 240fps at a 2K resolution, but that’s not all. The recorder helps eliminate any potential recording bottlenecks in your production, with an incredible recording ability that can record an astounding 5.7K DCI resolution in ProRes RAW when connected to the Panasonic EVA 1.
Massive 7.2-inch Touchscreen
Framing your scene is easier than ever with a huge 7.2-inch display that not only has an impressive 1500 nits of brightness combined with a 1920x1280 resolution. Making changes and accessing the extensive shooting assist modes is simple because the screen is touch sensitive, making changes intuitive and straightforward.
360 Zone HDR 10-Bit Panel
With a HDR capable 10-Bit panel that uses both LED and LCD technology that makes use of 360 zones of backlight to deliver the highest viewing quality. The dynamic AtomHDR engine displays millions of shades of brightness and colour for accurate results along with a 1,000,000:1 screen contrast that ensures the blacks are deeper and the colours are brighter.
Dolby Vision Output
In addition to an incredibly accurate display, the Shogun can output a Dolby Vision signal to be displayed on a compatible monitor or TV. This signal can be sent via live HDMI 2.0 or SDI using the AtomoOS 10 software.
ProRes RAW and DNxHR Compatible
The same AtomosOS 10 software ensures that a wide combination of codecs and recording formats are available onboard the Shogun 7. You can use ProRes, ProRes RAW, CinemaDNG, and Avid DNxHD ensuring you can select the most appropriate format possible to save time transcoding footage in post-production.
12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 Outputs
Offering a selection of different connection options, the Shogun 7 has HDMI 2.0 input and output port, as well as 5 SDI ports. 2 of them are 3G-SDI ports, while the other 3 are 12G-SDI speed, one of which can double as either an input or an output depending on your requirements.
Live-Switch Multi-camera Recording
One benefit of the multiple SDI inputs is the ability to record up to 4 different HD60p streams at the same time, while also recording the cut points between cameras using a multi-camera view. This data is saved as an xml file that can be imported into most popular NLE software for a faster multi-cam edit workflow.
Shooting Assist Tools
In addition to a recorder and multi-cam switcher the Shogun 7 is a highly advanced shooting monitor with integrated tools to help you out on set. Customisable 3D LUTs help display a more accurate post-graded preview of log footage for directors and clients, Scopes allow you to be sure the colour of your shot is accurate. Focus peaking, and a 2:1 zoom helps you nail focus and zebra guides ensure your exposure is accurate.
Dual Battery Mounts
Powering the Atomos Shogun 7 is hassle free with several options depending on your needs. The unit supports the widely used and popular Sony L series batteries and is rated for approximately 1.5 hours of monitoring and recording 4K 30p footage with a 5200mAh battery and 2.2 hours with a 7800mAh. The kit also includes a DC adapter for use in studios and on sets with power.
