You can access many of the camera’s settings such as focus point and shutter simply by touching the 3” Flip-out LCD Touch Screen – a first for an interchangeable lens camera. With the G2 you're ready in an instant to shoot. And with iA mode, it’s easy get great shots every time. You can use the compact G2 to shoot high-quality 720p HD movies in AVCHD Lite format, too. Beautiful shots, easy-touch operation. With the G2, a world of inspiring images is right at your fingertips. Movie Feature – The DMC-G2 can record HD movies up to 1280x720p in AVCHD Lite format at 30 frames per second. The length of recording depends on the capacity of the SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card**. File size is up to 2GB if using MotionJPEG format. Expect to get around 1 hour recording time in highest quality on an 8GB memory card. * We recommend using Class 4 or higher memory cards for HD video recording **SDHC Memory Cards and SDXC Memory Cards can be used only in equipment that is compatible with their respective formats. If the computer being used does not support SDXC Memory Cards, a message prompting you to format may appear. (Doing so will cause recorded images to be erased so do not choose to format.)  | What are the features and how will they benefit you? | | Touch Control Shooting – The auto focus is immediately set to the subject by just touching it on the large, 3.0” flip-out 460,000-dot LCD. You can also operate the auto focus and shutter release at the same time with just a touch, for a completely new way to shoot. Also lets you adjust the aperture, shutter speed, white balance and exposure compensation easily and intuitively by simply sliding your finger over the screen. As well a variety of touch-control operations make playback quicker, easier and more fun. Ease of Use - precise button placement and a simple, logical menu interface work together to make operation easy and intuitive. Full Time Live View - lets you check your image before you shoot it. Both the LCD and the 1,440,000-dot electronic viewfinder give you a live view of what you're shooting with approx. 100% field of view. Mega O.I.S Optical Image Stabilisation - compensates for hand-shake to help prevent blurring, so you get sharp, clear shots. Advanced Contrast AF System – accurate high-speed autofocus system focuses in approx 0.03 seconds (with the 14-42mm lens). Features 23 focus points, AF tracking and Face Detection. AF Tracking with Touch Screen Operation - Once the AF subject is selected by touch control, it continues to track the subject - even if it moves - until you press the shutter. Great for sports, kids, animals etc. Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition - detects and recognises pre-registered faces and automatically optimizes the focus and exposure settings. Intelligent ISO Control - detects subject movement and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the movement and light conditions – helps prevent blurring. Intelligent Exposure – underexposes bright areas to prevent washed out images and brightens shadowy areas to prevent loss of detail. Auto Backlight Compensation - When there is strong backlighting, the background appears nice and bright, but the subject is dark. This function detects backlight conditions and compensates for it automatically. iA (Intelligent Auto) - features the same iA mode as LUMIX compact models. It's so easy to operate - you just choose the iA Mode, aim at your subject, and shoot. Intelligent Scene Selector – automatically detects and selects the correct scene mode for the shooting conditions. 12.1 Megapixel Live MOS Sensor - The 4/3-type 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor featured in the DMC-G2 offers the best of both worlds – the superior image quality of a CCD sensor, and the lower power consumption of a CMOS sensor. Venus Engine HD II - features exceptionally advanced signal processing capabilities so you can capture clear and beautiful images even when shooting at high ISO sensitivity levels. Extended Battery Life – expect to get around 360 shots per charger with the supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Dust Reduction System – helps eliminate dust collecting on the sensor that shows up as spots on your images, typical of interchangeable lens cameras. Micro Four Thirds Lenses – compatible with Micro Four Thirds lenses as well as a vast array of other lenses with differing functionality, via lens adapters (sold separately). My Colour Mode – choose from a range of artistic colour filters – Expressive, Retro, Pure, Elegant, Monochrome, Dynamic Art, Silhouette and Custom. Film Mode - you can manually choose from 6 colour types and 3 monochrome types - even when shooting movies - to get even more creative images Motion Picture P Mode - lets you change the depth of field with the appropriate exposure simply by rotating the rear dial. Scene Mode with Peripheral Defocus- lets the camera make the optimal settings for you automatically, so anybody can take superb photos and movies with ease. The Peripheral Defocus Mode automatically focuses on the AF area you choose while gently defocusing the foreground and background to emphasize your subject. Built-in Flash - built-in flash* has a light intensity that is equivalent to GN11, and you can adjust the intensity within a range of ±EV 2 in 1/3 EV steps. RAW file format – file format that allows greater adjustment of various camera settings on your computer after you have captured your images, without losing image quality, such as adjustment of colour balance, exposure, etc. Auto Bracket - a wide variety of bracket functions is available to match your shooting conditions including exposure bracket, white balance bracket and Multi Film Mode. Microphone Input – improve recorded sound quality with the addition of an external microphone (sold separately). (note: 2.5mm input jack) Wind Cut Function - blocks out most of the noise from background wind.
